Dr. Anna Katharina Heide is a senior patent attorney in the life sciences/biotech department of the law firm RUHR-IP Patentanwälte, Essen - Düsseldorf - Munich, Germany. The focus is on technical IP rights, expert opinions, strategic advice in relation to the competitive environment of her clients and thus also contentious proceedings before the patent offices and courts at international level.
Dr. Heide has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2009 and advises corporate groups, established as well as young internationally operating companies in the fields of life sciences, molecular diagnostics, related medical technology as well as IT/AI driven interdisciplinary projects from the aforementioned fields. She advises her clients on IP portfolio development in the domestic market as well as in the international competition of the respective company. Her advice is characterised by close cooperation with the management and inventors of her clients.
Dr Heide completed her studies (biology) at the Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf as well as at the Research Centre Jülich, Institute for Biotechnology, and at the IWW Rheinisch-Westfälisches Institut für Wasserforschung gGmbH (PhD), University of Duisburg-Essen.
Since 2016, Dr Heide has been a member of the Biotechnology Committee of the German Patent Attorneys' Association and since 2020 she has been the Vice Chair of the Committee. She is an admitted German Patent Attorney as well as a European Patent, Design and Trademark Attorney.
